    SELECTION & ASSESSMENT

Librarians conduct reviews of e-resources and select them with the intention of increasing accessibility by making materials available on- and off-campus.  LBCC faculty, staff and students are welcome to submit recommendations for electronic resources and librarians will work with them to determine the relevance and suitability of recommended e-resources. Librarians take some of the following factors into consideration when making final decisions on e-resources:

    • Provides information not available in print (In some cases, the library will keep both a digital and print copy of books.)

    • Vendor reputation

    • Privacy policy that respects the LBCC Community’s safety

    • Accessibility compliance (e.g., Closed Captioning)

    • Cost

    • Level of interdisciplinarity

    • User support

    • Level of access (e.g., remote use available, support for distance learning programs)

    • Compatibility with proxy server

    PRIVACY ACT

LBCC Library also endorses and adheres to both CA Civ Code § 1798.192, or the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), and CA Civ Code § 1798.90, or California’s Reader Privacy Act (SB 602), which protects e-resources users from unlawful disclosure of their personal information to government entities.
