    Error message with EzProxy

    If you have typed in Your Viking ID in Correctly but are getting an error similar to the one below, then there is a problem with your EZProxy Connection.

    Steps to Fix Your EzProxy Error

    Please take the following steps to try and fix your EzProxy error before emailing the Library for help.

    Clear your browser cache and cookies

    Clear Your Cache In Chrome Browser

    1. On your computer, open Chrome.
    2. At the top right, click More More.
    3. Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
    4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
    5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
    6. Click Clear data.

    How to clear the Firefox cache

    1. Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.

    2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.
    3. In the Cookies and Site Data section, click Clear Data….

    4. Remove the check mark in front of Cookies and Site Data.
    5. With Cached Web Content check marked, click the Clear button.

    Try a New Browser

    Switch to a New Internet Browser and try logging into the Library databases through the Viking Portal again.

    You can try using:

    Opera Browser

    Google Chrome

    Safari (Mac Only)

    Firefox

    Microsoft Edge

    Try a browser in incognito mode

    Try connecting to our Library databases using Incognito Mode
    It’s named Incognito Mode in Chrome, Microsoft Edge calls it InPrivate, while Opera and Firefox use Private Browsing.

    Turn on Incognito Mode in Google Chrome

    To open a new Incognito window, click or tap on the “Customize and control Google Chrome” button in the top-right corner. It looks like three vertical dots. Then, click or tap on the “New Incognito window” option.

    NOTE: The keyboard shortcut for going Incognito in Chrome is Ctrl + Shift + N.

     

    The Microsoft Edge Incognito Mode is called InPrivate. To start an Edge private browsing session, press the “Settings and more” button in the top-right corner, and then click or tap on “New InPrivate window.

     

    The Firefox Incognito mode is called Private Browsing. Press the “Open Application Menu” hamburger button on the top-right. Then, click or tap on “New Private Window.

    You can also use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + P to open a new incognito window in Firefox.

    Google Chrome

    To verify Google Chrome is at the latest version or to update it manually, follow the steps below.

    1. While in your Google Chrome browser.
    2. Click the Three Dots button Chrome settings in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    3. From the Three Dots menu, select Help, then click About Google Chrome.

    1. In the next window, Chrome automatically checks for updates and displays the current version. If updates were installed, click the Relaunch button to restart the browser.

    Mozilla Firefox

    Mozilla Firefox should automatically download updates and prompt you when they are available to install. To verify Firefox is at the latest version or to update it manually, follow the steps below.

    1. Open the Mozilla Firefox browser.
    2. Click the Open menu button Firefox menu in the upper-right corner of the screen.
    3. In the menu that appears, click the Firefox help icon Help option at the bottom.
    4. Select About Firefox.

    1. In the window that appears, Firefox automatically checks for updates and displays the current version. If updates were installed, click the Restart to Update Firefox button.

     

    Microsoft Edge

    To verify Microsoft Edge is at the latest version or to update it manually, follow the steps below.

    1. Open the Microsoft Edge browser.
    2. Click the Settings and more icon Microsoft Edge More menu in the upper-right corner of the browser window.
    3. In the drop-down menu that appears, near the bottom, move the mouse cursor over Help and feedback, then select About Microsoft Edge from the side menu.

    1. When the next window opens, Edge updates automatically if it isn't at the most recent version.
    1. If Edge was updated, click the Restart button in Edge. button to refresh the browser.

    Safari

    If you have Apple updates turned on, Safari should stay up-to-date automatically. To verify Safari is at the latest version or to update it manually, follow the steps below.

    1. Open the Apple menu by clicking the Apple icon in the upper-left corner of the desktop.
    2. Select App Store from the drop-down menu that appears.

    1. In the window that appears, click the Updates selector button at the bottom of the navigation pane on the left.
    2. Find Safari and click Update (or click Update all to update every app).
