The Long Beach City College Historical Archive Committee builds institutional self-awareness about the singular culture of the college by collecting, preserving, and displaying the college’s historic archival materials, in both physical and digital format.
- Preserve the college’s cultural heritage.
- Maintain institutional memory.
- Involve community members, alumni, and LBCC emeritus faculty in this process.
- Inspire future Vikings to develop school pride and take part in collegiate activities, further expanding the rich culture of LBCC.
- Create and update the college’s history, both online and in print.
- Support the gathering, storage, and identification of the college’s historical materials in a central location.
- Support and help secure an online website and database to allow easy access and reference to anyone who wishes to study the history of LBCC.
- Digitalize historically important documents to ensure their survivability.
- Continue the oral and written history projects.
- Support the 100th anniversary of the college.
